2005-04-20 04:34:00 | The new version is great. Have been using the beta version since Beta 2 and what they have done to it I don't know but it goes like a rocket on the old box (Pentium II 266 with Win 98) now. Might not need to upgrade the old girl after all. :D Yeah, love the pop-up telling me it has blocked a pop-up! Ironic isn't it? That was one of the first things I killed.

2005-04-20 05:20:00 | Huh? Have you set preferences to allow pop-ups? | steelsporran (6566) | |
2005-04-20 05:27:00 | untick "show notifition of blocked popups" under preferences. i think i do love about opera is being able to customise it. not sure what default format they have used with 8....the last one was awfull.

2005-04-20 06:33:00 | Opera 8 seems very good, I may change from FireFox but there are a few niggles. To open a new tab in the background I have to hold Ctrl and Shift, and also when I close a tab it always goes back to the tab before not the next one I want to see. Anyone know how to improve this behaviour?

2005-04-20 07:01:00 | Also I need to have "Blog this" and be able to update delicio bookmarks on the fly or I may have to rethink that last rash statement about FireFox. | zqwerty (97) | |
2005-04-20 07:47:00 | To open a new tab in the background I have to hold Ctrl and Shift...Anyone know how to improve this behaviour? Ctrl + F12 > Advanced tab > Shortcuts section > Middle click options... button > select Open in background page option > OK > OK I've noticed a few little things that bug me. Sometimes it freezes (like when applying new settings, etc) and even the fouc (www.bluerobot.com) that IE sometimes suffers from. Otherwise it is a very slim, fast loading browser (especially the way I have it set out), is very feature rich and quite a fast browser in comparison to IE. Will keep it on hand but Fx remains my primary.

2005-04-20 08:25:00 | Huh? Have you set preferences to allow pop-ups? Ha, not likely! :D You seem to have that one fixed now but the solution was as tweak'e posted.

2005-04-20 08:36:00 | also when I close a tab it always goes back to the tab before not the next one I want to see . Anyone know how to improve this behaviour? In Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts > Keyboard > Opera Standard > Edit type w ctrl in the search field with the magnifying glass then under Actions double-click on x Close page,1 and paste in the following: Close page & cycle to next page . Press Enter then OK . Under the Browsing tab ensure that Cycle in page bar order is selected in "Cycle pages" . You can now close pages with CTRL+W and the next tab will become the focus . You can do the same in the Mouse settings depending on how you use your mouse .

2005-04-20 14:45:00 | Thanks for the help given above. Next problem is that I cannot post in Blogger using Opera, I keep getting an error message when I try to choose the font: "An attempt to modify formatting failed unexpectedly. A possible solution may be to save your post as a draft and reopen this post and apply formatting again. [Error: name: TypeError message: Statement on line 204: Could not convert undefined or null to object Backtrace: Line 204 of linked script www.blogger.com RichEdit.frameDoc.execCommand(ctrl, false, val); Line 1 of script FormatbarMenu(this, 0); At unknown location [statement source code not available]" Any ideas????
