| 346456 | 2005-04-18 15:33:00 | I am currently using web mail to access my email address.... But I was hoping to find a nice client to use because of when uploading large attachments to email messages the website I access my email through has an auto refresh which then looses what I have upload thus far.... So I am now looking for a safe and user friendly mail client to use. I have always stayed away from Outlook Express because of secuirty flaws and was wondering if these have been fixed with sp2 or updates? I have also downloaded but have not installed Thunderbird as I see it is quite highly regarded on these forums....? I know everyone will have their own opinions on whast a good mail client so I guess I'm just asking for opinions and experiences with these programs and other mail clients..... On XP Home as well..... Thanks . M. |

It is written by our own David Harris and is free. My husband uses Eudora which I believe is also very good. I don't think his version is free though. Oxie (Lyn) |

| 346463 | 2005-04-18 22:13:00 | You won't be able to find a proper mail client that will access your Web Mail. IMAP might be worth a go if your ISP supports it. |

| 346464 | 2005-04-20 12:09:00 | If you use AVG antivirus, it has a plug-in for e-mail scanning compatibility with Eudora; I don't know if it has any for Thunderbird, Pegasus etc. Someone else can probably answer this or try searching the grisoft website if you need the info. Regarding retrieving your mail from a web-mail service, many of them (eg Orcon, Fastmail) post their mail on a POP3 or IMAP server as well as the web server so that it is available for retrieval by e-mail clients. Lycos, for instance, doesn't, but I wouldn't recommend them anyway. |
