| 347021 | 2005-04-20 07:35:00 | I am trying to install a fujitsu MPB3032AT that I picked up for free as a second hard drive. I have it set the pins up as a slave. I have set the CMOS to auto detect. The drive shows up in device manager, and everything appears to be fine, however I can't format it or do anything else with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| 347024 | 2005-04-20 07:56:00 | that was fast... Just to clarify, I have XP pro. So I don't think I need to work with fdisk. I go into computer management and try to partition the drive that way and it will have an error. The space is unallocated now. Also, the drive does not show up in the the same box on the top right hand side, where the regular c drive does. |

| 347027 | 2005-04-20 09:06:00 | If it's in a formatted in a file format that Windows does not recognise, the drive will show up, but as Jen says, Windows will be unable to do anything with it. fdisk will. Safest thing to do, especially if you don't have any specialised drive partitioning/diagnostic/formatting software, would be to download a drive installation or troubleshooting utility from the drive manufacturers' website (www.fcpa.fujitsu.com). If one is available, they're normally free, can run under Windows or off a floppy/CD (depending on the age and revision of the drive I would guess, check out the erase utility at the above link, pretty slim pickings though). |
