| 346967 | 2005-04-20 15:13:00 | ... All I want is a basic FTP programme that I don't have to pay for. Can anyone reccomend something. If you are a Windows user, then they don't come any more basic, free and easier than good ol' DOS-based ftp. Just open up a DOS prompt and type ftp. The command set can be obtained by typing ? or help, and there is very little there though - all you need really is to move around the local and remote directories, (m)put and (m)get - what could be easier than that? If you are a Linux user, just type ftp into a console, or for security, install sftp. Both ugly as sin and maybe frightening at first though. |

| 346969 | 2005-04-20 21:38:00 | SmartFTP is good. The ones I've tried so far are LeechGet (my main download manager) FlashGet and some other one which wasnt very good at even managing downloads.I've always found FlashGet brilliant. |

| 346970 | 2005-04-21 01:32:00 | Another one is FireFTP (http://fireftp.mozdev.org) which is a free plug-in for the Mozilla Firefox browser. I have found it to be quite good, especially for the price :) | Simply_Si (354) | ||

| 346973 | 2005-04-21 02:45:00 | It desnt have spyware but the free version is supported by ads, unlike LeechGet 2004 (www.leechget.net) (it also has a nice interface unlike most download managers). So does anyone know of one that can manage a download from a private ftp server? | sal (67) | ||
