347894 2005-04-23 09:29:00 When I try to send a message in Outlook Express, I get the dialog box "The message could not be sent. There is not enough disk space".
The message will not go into the outbox and in order to keep it had to save it as a draft. Any Ideas. I am running Win 98 and OE 5.

347895 2005-04-23 09:44:00 How much free space do you have left on your hard drive ? Try deleting some stuff and try to send again Overdrive_5000 (4950)
347896 2005-04-23 09:53:00 I have about 1.2 Gb memory left on the hard drive. That shouldn't be a problem.
I deleted all the emails from the last couple of years a week or two ago, but having a look using Tree-Size just now, shows that the space in each of the directories is still filled with the emails. (760 MB of them). Could this be a contributing factor?

347897 2005-04-23 10:01:00 It could be, how much RAM do you have in your system ? Overdrive_5000 (4950)
347898 2005-04-23 10:09:00 Try compacting the messages. Not sure how OE 5 has things setup, but have a look under Tools > Options > Maintenance. Jen (38)
347899 2005-04-23 10:44:00 I have 256MB Ram.
I have tried compacting messages. Nothing seems to work. Do I give up and go to another email package? I have already sent the emails that could not go in OE with Pegasus Mail.
I have noticed for several days since I changed the Store Directory for OE that it takes a long time to delete messages. Could all be related.

347900 2005-04-23 11:47:00 Changed the store directory?

Where to? Did you move your existing files?

When I say "Where to" was this from Microsoft's default directory hidden in some obscure part of the directory tree to somewhere extremely useful like "My Documents/Emails"? Or was it to somewhere else like another computer on a network?

Are there any restrictions on sharing for this new location?

Did you move your existing files or create new ones?

Bit more info required.

347901 2005-04-23 12:11:00 I may be completely off track here but I have found that AVG messes around with OE. Never had an error message like that with OE but. mark c (247)
347902 2005-04-23 19:11:00 I changed the Store directory to somewhere useful and with a useful name as well, mainly so that my backup system would pick it up. I just created the directory and then changed the store folder using Tools, Options, Maintenance tab, Store Folder and all the existing files were transferred to that directory. No problems. I don't know whether there is a sharing restriction or not, I am not on a network at present.
My problems only arose after backing up all the files I deleted the lot.
I use AVG, but haven't had a problem with it up until now.

347903 2005-04-23 20:01:00 Don't take this as gospel, but way back I vaguely remember that I had a similar prob with w95 and the cure was to delete the outbox and a new one was
created on start up.Don't do it tho without verification or you could create a restore point first and try it.
