348577 2005-04-25 04:53:00 I've got a PC Company computer and would like to get into the thing to clean out the dust thats accumalated over the years. How the heck do you get into the thing? Surely you dont have to drill out the rivets? Is there some way you just slide out the side panel?
Cheers, Clod :help:

Then the screws to take off the side panels will be staring you in the face.

If you grab that piece with your fingers and then pull up and out the whole front section will pop off. You can remove the screws down the left hand side to remove that panel in one piece. The right hand side often has the mobo mounted on a swinging panel section. If you remove the right hand side panel, you will then also need to remove the thumbscrews at the back of the case so that the mounting panel door is release and it can be swung out. Jen (38)

After you take out any cards in the PCI slots of course.

348581 2005-04-25 05:58:00 After you take out any cards in the PCI slots of course. You don't need to actually. By undoing the thumbnail screws at the rear, you will release the panel that the PCI cards and I/O shield are fixed to from the actual rear of the case chasis. It also swings out with the mobo. You do have to detach the monitor cable and other cables first tho - gets kinda messy if you try to swing out the mobo panel with those still attached. ;)

But unless the poster wishes to completely strip down the case while cleaning, they might not need to open the right hand side panel anyway. :)

(a) after you remove the side panel screws you might have to gently lever the panel to the front to get it off it's hooks.
(b) Presume you are shutting power off and leaving the earth connected plus using a anti static wrist strap
