349421 2005-04-27 10:19:00 Is it possible to get cables made to length?

If so who makes them?

We would like to move our Multifunction printer, across the room, which would be about a 3 or 5 meter cable needed maybe? more or less . :@@:

Can you buy them that long? or cost the earth to get them made?

you can use extension cord for power, but the feed cable is the pain, and a phone jack is able to be almost any length .

349422 2005-04-27 10:29:00 Does the printer component use USB or Parallel cables? I've seen heaps of different length USB cords so I'm guessing it is parallel.

I don't have proof, but I would say that parallel cable has length restrictions due to signal quality. Just like the Parallel IDE cables inside PCs'.

USB is easy to find extensions for, tell me the model number of your printer and I'll check out what kind of cable it needs .

I don't work at DSE beetle . Infact, I have no regular job :(

I keep advocating them (and also Trademe and Ascent) because they all have online databases that are easily searched .

They are often extremely expensive for things like cables though.
Ie:

Optical Digital cable = $40, $15 elsewhere.
2m USB printer cable $14.77, elsewhere $2

but they are always open, and there's one in nearly every town

349429 2005-04-28 03:59:00 The USB "maximum" length is 5m . I don't think DSE have them, nor Jaycar . GlobalPC ( . co . nz/products . asp?format=1&sort=2&cat=124" target="_blank">globalpc . co . nz) do . What you need is a "type A male to type B male" .

A "type A male to type A female" (extension cord) added to the pre4sent cable might work . ;) Beyond that, you can get "Active extension" cables .
