348953 2005-04-26 06:36:00 I have fitted a Winfast TV2000 XP tuner board to my new Dell 8400 PC running Windows XP Pro. This works when I am logged on as Administrator but when I go to User logon it brings up an error "cannot find FMcodec.dat."

I haven't found any comment on the web for this problem. Any ideas anyone?

348954 2005-04-26 07:06:00 What version of the program is installed?? It just sounds like that file maybe corrupt or just missing .

Go here

. leadtek . com . tw/eng/support/download . asp?downlineid=63" target="_blank">www . leadtek . com . tw

This is for the Deluxe not the Expert .

And get an updated driver, and updated tuner program .

Either that or remove the Winfast Wizard from the startup tab so the tuner program / Wizard doesnt run .

348955 2005-04-26 08:46:00 The version supplied with the card is 4.3. I have updated the drivers from the Leadtek site. The effect only occurs when in User logon which suggests that all the right files are there.

I am not sure what you mean by your last comment "remove the Winfast Wizard from the startup tab so the tuner program / Wizard doesnt run." My main interest is listening to FM rather than TV.

348956 2005-04-26 08:55:00 The wizard once u install the program, may put the Winfast Wizard in Start/All programs/startup tab .

If its here, delete it and run it from the menu .

The latest version of the FM program is 5 . 13 . 01 . 2004-2 . 07 (well for the deluxe tuner) .

If u have the Expert tuner the updates are here

. leadtek . com . tw/eng/tv_tuner/download . asp?downlineid=67&pronameid=93&lineid=6&act=3" target="_blank">www . leadtek . com . tw

348957 2005-04-26 09:29:00 Thanks for your comments to date Speedy Gonzales. At this stage:

The wizard is not in the Startup tab.

I have the FM version 5.13.01.2004-2.16

I have updated to the latest drivers.

Still no joy when in User logon.

The only other clue is that there is an error message number 8001.0007 comes up before it advises that the FM Codec.dat is not found. - if that means anything to you!

348958 2005-04-26 09:55:00 Ummm if u want I can email my dat file (same name) . PM me with your email address, and I'll email it .

I dont think it'll make any diff whether u have the expert or deluxe tuner . I'm using the deluxe tuner .

Its only 8k so wont be a prob .

After u get it (if u want it), put it in c: / program files/winfast/WFTVFM folder .

Don't put your email in a reply here, you may get spammed posting your email in the forum .

348959 2005-04-26 10:17:00 The fact that the error apears when starting the comp/logging on means that it is most definitly lodged under startup, and that it is trying to launch and failing.

Otherwise it would apear when you launched the app,.When you have logged onto windows can you lauch Winfast FM?,does it repeat the error?,or does it do nothing at all?

348960 2005-04-26 20:25:00 The only way the system wld say the file is missing is if Larry had the Winfast FM program either in startup or in Msconfig (It may have been under startup in Msconfig) .

The Wizard doesnt usually load either the FM program or the tuner program (PVR) .

It just puts its icon on the taskbar .

And then u can select the PVR/FM/Netmeeting or Unload option, from the taskbar

I've emailed the missing file, so HOPEFULLY it'll work!

If it doesn't, a reinstall of the Program might or should fix it .

348961 2005-04-26 20:56:00 I just re-read the main post .

When u installed the tuner program, was there an option saying Just me, and All users?? If there was/is an All users option, did u select it??

Since it works with Admin and no one else, (if u have more than one person), logging into that computer .

You're not the only person, who logs into this computer right?? There are other users?
