348711 2005-04-25 22:04:00 I have recently had some work done on my registry but since then any file or folder on my desktop or,as I have discovered, any location it seems on my PC can not be sent to the Recycle Bin. I am just accumulating a lot of rubbish on my PC now and need some advice as to how to get rid of it. Each time I try to send something to the R.Bin I get this message on the screen:

"Cannot Delete.Cannot find the specified path. Make sure you specify the correct path."

I am running W98SE :
Thanks for any guidance so long as it's not too complicated or takes me into the registry where I am hopeless.

348713 2005-04-25 23:31:00 I take it with program files, (if this is what u were deleting), u UNINSTALLED the program FIRST, before u decided to delete the folders/files belonging to the program??

Get ccleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com

This will get rid of the junk once u delete it. It'll save u deleting whats in the bin after u delete whatever.

I wouldnt go NEAR the registry, if u have no idea on what you're doing!

348716 2005-04-27 20:58:00 Thanks johnboy for your recent reference. It gave the exact wording to my problem but even though I followed the instructions in MS Dos, I got no joy. Nonetheless, even though I haven't cured the problem, I have overcome it to a point. I create a new desk top folder , rename it it "junk" and put all undeletable files from anywhere into it then I drag it into my other "D" drive which WILL allow me to delete into my Recycle Bin. So it would seem the problem lies not in the R.Bin itself but somewhere in the main "C" drive.Maybe there is a connection between the fault and my uninstalling Norton's System Works 2003 [ which I've been having a lot of problems with]not long before I noticed I couldn't delete anything in the C drive to the R.Bin. So even though it's cumbersome , I can at least now get rid of unwanted stuff. Would be interested to know if you think there could be a connection between the System Works uninstall and the problem. willbry (1555)

348718 2005-04-28 00:26:00 Your in Big Trouble

If you have a registry backup you could restore your registry fronm that
Or you could just reinstall your os (NOOOOO) :annoyed: :illogical
Or you could try IOLO's system mechanic and use their recycle bin alternative Incinerator Maybe iolo.com might have a trial version or just take the pc into the store and upgrade it to win xp pro
