348652 2005-04-25 18:14:00 I gave spybot up as a dead loss a few months ago.
But because people keep reccomending it I decided to give it another try.
I downloaded the latest version.
I have run it for the last week.
Everytime it finds the same thing.
"Error during check
winpup 32
DSO exploit 5 entries"

Click on repair and it reports "No problems fixed"

What's wrong with it???
Why do people reccomend it all the time????

348653 2005-04-25 19:20:00 if I recall correctly winpup is a trojan..........get a good A/V and kill it...... drcspy (146)
348654 2005-04-25 19:21:00 you could also try your scan in safe mode wiht both spybot and your A/v drcspy (146)
348655 2005-04-25 20:00:00 I'm not 100% enamoured with it either - each time I do a scan (about once every 6 weeks) it finds a particular legit app that I run and it destroys it, without any prompting. So I have to reinstall it each time. Grr. Greg (193)
348656 2005-04-25 20:34:00 And DOS exploit is a bug in 1.3 of Spybot. Get the 1.4 RC1 version whatever is out now.

If u have the latest version, go into advanced mode, I think it is, and tick DSO exploit so it doesnt come up again.

Spybot is one of a few utilities that it is very important to read the fine print and help files on prior to using. It is more powerful than adaware, but nearly as user friendly. Be sure and look carefully through each of the entires that Spybot finds before clicking "fix all".... :)

spybot dons't auto clean unless you have it set to do so.
what program does it keep removing?

348660 2005-04-27 00:50:00 Thanks hcetrepus.

Tweake - the programme is "considered" spyware, but is something I want and need running.

Anyway I'll look into the settings more carefully when I next run it.
