349139 2005-04-26 23:37:00 Speaking of gmail, how long does it take once the message is on gmails servers for Thunderbird to access it?
Does gmail not support Thunderbird 1.x?
For some reason my Thunderbird is accessing pop.gmail.com, but saying theres no messages, when I know there is (coz I sent a test message).
I have also enabled POP in my gmail settings.

No idea about Thunderbird but Eudora downloads new messages within a minute usually.

I have also enabled POP in my gmail settings. Nevermind, figured it out. Just went over settings again, and discovered I had missed one

349142 2005-04-27 08:05:00 I've got Hotmail working with TBird to check the Hotmail inbox. I used the local folder account. Under settings the servername is Localhost & the username is the username you use for Hotmail. You have to click the Localfolders inbox to highlight it, click get mail, enter your Hotmail password & it downloads your Hotmail messages.

wicked, what did you put under the Incoming server? and the stmp server?

349143 2005-04-27 22:09:00 I have found a programme called Hotmail popper. fitsoftware.com
which seems to work with thunderbird. Download the programme and go to the help menu and there will be instructions for TB.

349144 2005-04-27 23:39:00 from the hotmail popper site:
"Please Note: Microsoft has recently decided that only paying members will be able access Hotmail using outside services such as Hotmail Popper. Hotmail Popper will continue working with a "Hotmail Plus" (or equivalent MSN) account."

ive only got the free one. so yeah it doesnt seem to look to good, i might just download it and give it a try but i dont think it will work. thanks for the input :)

349145 2005-04-28 06:27:00 Have a look at FreePOPs (www.freepops.org). It does essentially the same thing as Hotmail Popper, albeit using a different approach. It's completely free and in my experience is much more reliable than Hotmail Popper. It's also completely extensible which means it can be used to retrieve emails from practically any webmail service.

And to top it off it's quite resource friendly too ;)

349146 2005-04-28 10:06:00 If you set it up as I put in my previous post, you will be able to recieve messages. You have to highlight the local folders inbox & click get mail. You can't send Hotmail messages with T/Bird, I log into MSN if I want to send from that address. You can't use pop or smtp with Hotmail. Phil B (648)
