| 1384775 | 2014-09-26 02:23:00 | Win7, SP1 Why do disconnected "drives" (presumably previously connected USB drives) show on the folder/file tree in Explorer? The actual drives are C-System, D-Removable HDD, E-Data (C & E are partitions of same HDD), F-CDROM, G-ReadyBoost. H, I, J, K & L all show in the "tree", but each has no properties or size, so why do they show? Can anything be done to have explorer show only what is actually there? Thanks |

| 1384776 | 2014-09-26 02:33:00 | Double click on Computer, along the top, Tools / Folder options / View tab, scroll down and make sure " Hide Empty Drives in the Computer folder" is Ticked. | wainuitech (129) | ||

| 1384778 | 2014-09-26 03:19:00 | You probably have a multifunction printer or other device with a cardreader in it. Unfortunately, the way a lot of these devices present themselves when no media is present is as a 0-size drive, rather than an empty drive, which makes it harder for Windows to know what to do with them. | inphinity (7274) | ||
| 1384779 | 2014-09-26 03:28:00 | Thanks. That could be it. I have a Brother MFC-J6510 which has a couple of card reader slots and a USB port. Odd thing is if I plug a SD photo card into the slot, it doesn't show on the explorer tree. No biggy, but a puzzle non the less. |
