1384600 2014-09-23 22:11:00 Looking at getting one of these for flight sim.
Not sure which cooler type to get.
Can anyone help with the pros & cons for ACX or Blower type coolers.

1384601 2014-09-23 22:38:00 Firstly check out the new 980 & 970 before buying a 780, both are faster and use about 100W less power than a 780. From benchmarks so far the 980 is a little quicker than a 780Ti and the 970 is very close to a 780 but sometimes matches the Ti. I just received my 980 but haven't had a chance to try it yet :)
Check this one www.computerlounge.co.nz

Blower style is better for small cases or ones with less airflow because it exhausts the heat out of the case, ACX tend to be better coolers but dump heat into the case needing to be extracted or it heats up everything else. Most decent cases handle either just fine. Nvidia blower style are usually pretty good, the reference AMD design on the r9 series is not good.

1384602 2014-09-24 00:51:00 Thanks, I may have to look at the 970 then.
Gosh it's hard to keep up with them all.
The ACX may be the way to go for me.
Currently running a 660ti ACX with no cooling problems.

EVGA are probably the worst reseller of NV cards period...inferior VRM which gives coil whinge.....ACX cooler not the best....find another manufacturer

1384605 2014-09-24 03:05:00 I would go Asus or Gigabyte. inphinity (7274)
1384606 2014-09-24 04:06:00 +1 for Gigabyte DeSade (984)
1384607 2014-09-24 06:50:00 I was going for the EVGA mainly because it's the shortest of the three.
I didn't think there would be much difference otherwise.
