| 1384134 | 2014-09-18 02:31:00 | Can anyone recommend a free ghosting application for XP? Does ghosting create an image of the entire HDD or just specific parts? I want to exclude most of my data as I've already got it backed up and just want to make an image of the OS, drivers and programs, is this possible? | Vicx (11114) | ||
| 1384135 | 2014-09-18 03:06:00 | Do you want to Clone ( ghost) a Hard Drive or make an Image of it. two slightly different things. Cloning makes an exact working copy that you can simply plug in and it will run as the original. Imaging is like making a single large compressed file that can be stored on an external drive, Server or someplace else. Don't know of any Free software that will let you exclude data, its everything or nothing. Some free ones that will do both cloning / imaging are Backupper (www.backup-utility.com) - Active@ has a limited free version www.disk-image.com Also www.macrium.com Just to name a few, theres lots of then. |
