| 1370723 | 2014-03-19 23:39:00 | Howdy folks, its time to buy a new monitor as my current monitor is crapping out. I have been searching and am considering purchasing the Asus VS248h - www.xpcomputers.co.nz . I will be using the monitor for gaming such as League of legends, and also video editing. Are there other monitors that are priced around 250-300 on the market that would be better than this ASUS for my stated requirements, or is this a good option? Thanks alot |

| 1370724 | 2014-03-20 03:04:00 | Depends what your priorities are, price, gaming performance, colour accuracy? IPS screens look the best and generally have the best colour but also tend to be more expensive and have higher response rates which isn't Ideal for gaming. TN panels tend to have very fast response times and be cheap but have a lot less colour accuracy and don't look as nice. Generally competitive gamers go for TN panels and people into graphics and photo editing etc go for IPS (also great for movies). In my opinion though it's not that big of a deal either way, I can't see a difference in response between a 5ms IPS and a 2ms TN and I don't really care how accurate my colour is. That Asus screen is probably fine for what you want and is reasonably cheap. My first LCD was 8ms and I gamed on that without noticing any problems as well. Having said all that I use an older 27" AOC LCD and am considering going for an IPS screen next time round because I think they look nicer and I am not concerned about response times. |

| 1370727 | 2014-03-21 06:43:00 | I have talked to a friend, and i have come to the realization that i would prefer a gaming monitor as opposed to a color accurate monitor. Any suggestions would be appreciated | vaguelines (17061) | ||
| 1370728 | 2014-03-21 07:50:00 | Just buy whatever then, at your price point you won't find anything that will do over 60hz @ 1080p and the difference between a 2ms TN and 5ms IPS (doubt you'll find under 5ms IPS at this price point) is negligible. If you're after that 3ms there's a bunch of things I'd sooner spend my money on first which would have a greater impact. | icow (15313) | ||
