1369861	2014-03-09 05:57:00	I have Windows 7 and think its great. But aside from the new tiled interface does Windows 8 offer any other features. I have only used it 2 or 3 times on friends machines. (I realise that most of us don't like the tiles) But once you get to the desktop are there any good features that would be worth having ?	Digby (677)

Cleaner task manager Better copy dialog (progress bar doubles as speed graph, plus pausable and doesn't stall on a problem file) The Twitter app :D Settings syncing (with Microsoft account) Impressive handling of clean installs - after signing into your Microsoft account, it asks you whether it's an existing PC or a new one - if existing, it pulls settings from the cloud (including the File History location) Just to name a few ;)	pcuser42 (130)

Faster startup better backup & restore app designed for touchscreens (if you have touchscreen) forces you to learn the Win+ commands (eg Win & I ) Once Tiles are manually tidied up & decluttered : everything the home user needs is on the Metro interface Matches Windows Phones (if you have a Win phone)	1101 (13337)

Nothing that most people are going to care about, unless they're using a tablet. Windows 8 is basically only good for tablets, for everything else, Windows 7 is the logical choice at the moment. That said, I do like some of the new features of the task manager and the file copy dialogue ... BUT I've used Sysinternal's Process Explorer and SuperCopier which go above and beyond that anyway... and you can use them on Windows 7.. so hardly a good reason to get Windows 8 just for that! 1369868	2014-03-10 00:13:00	I like the video App - rental HD movies without leaving the house and a decent range. As far as I'm aware the only 100% legit way of doing this in NZ apart from possibly apple TV which I know nothing about. Netflix & Hulu require workarounds and Quickflix was SD only last I checked (but HD is supposed to be coming). I don't think it's enough to sell windows 8 by itself though but it's a cool feature (well except some intel graphics give you white bars instead of black for letterboxing which is very distracting). On the whole if you have 7 and are happy with it there's no reason to update but if you get a new PC with 8 on it there's no problem, just a bit of learning to do.	dugimodo (138)
1369869	2014-03-10 00:43:00	Its good to see there are some good new features. But probably not enough to tempt me to buy it. I will always stick with Windows as at my age I don't want to learn too much new and I have a good setup and lots of programs that I use.	Digby (677)
1369870	2014-03-10 02:49:00	One thing I haven't seen mentioned is how well the much hated start screen works with a windows remote. Sitting back in the armchair in the lounge those giant tiles suddenly seem a lot friendlier and you can navigate around them and launch apps easily with a standard windows remtote with no setup. If you happen to have win 8 pro with media centre (I do) the remote has even more uses. To be fair though windows 7 has media centre as well.	dugimodo (138)
