1370382 2014-03-20 02:13:00 You can go to a bank and draw funds.
this is true but meaningless from the time your card goes missing and the time you report it and the account has been emptied.

1370383 2014-03-20 02:17:00 Can anyone think of what would be an easier secure way to make a credit card type purchase that didn't involve using any sort of RFID or NFC chip in a credit card?I know, I know. How about ibeacon:o plod (107)

I am sure the concept could be used and abused by retailers as we get deluged by unwanted spam marketing when we enter a store, but in essence it removes the requirement for carrying a credit card with embedded RFID or NFC chip in it - so it would remove the potential ability for hackers to intercept or skim the data at the moment of transaction which is what this whole argument is currently about.

And yes, I agree, the concept probably has its flaws, but so do RFID chips.

As mentioned, we most certainly only have NFC here in this beautiful country of ours!

1370386 2014-03-20 09:29:00 . . . and even with a new needle, NFC emphasises the N for Near Field . . .

It doesn't stand for Nifty Funds Capture ;) .

Well that depends on your definition of "near" . The video I made shows it's pretty damn "near" if you ask me :D

1370388 2014-03-23 00:57:00 I asked BNZ to replace my Visa with one without WavePay. Here's there reply

"Thank you for your request to order a replacement card for your Classic Visa account

I did not call you this morning as I thought that it may have been too early.

We do not offer Visa credit cards without the Paywave facility on them. Therefore, If I send you a replacement card it will still have the Paywave facility on it.

If you have any questions or if I can help further, please reply to this message or contact us on the details listed below.

Thank you for contacting BNZ.

Kind regards "

I reckon if the range is only a few multiples of the average wallet thickness, that's near enough ;)
