| 1370449 | 2014-03-19 01:38:00 | OMFG, HTF some people get by is beyond me!....this is exactly right WT...Hello, hellooooooooo! Paint is probably the most expensive part of a paint job, unless the painter is passing on his wholesale discount...which is what my Dad mostly did....... I dont know if there is anything that gets paid for up front...thats just a con! They knew the job wasn't gonna be top quality, as they were into their ages they were going to be happy with a DIY quality job and as they said, you need to repaint the house after another 10yrs anyway. But the going rate on the market appears to be $100/hr per personnel of say 2 guys per 40hrs per week for the three weeks ie $24k. They thought like building or renovation they did in the past they had to pay costs in installments..... |

| 1370451 | 2014-03-19 02:41:00 | I had my house cladding repaired almost 2 years ago, they had 3-5 guys at my house most days and fitted in in between larger projects so they were there on and off for 2 weeks. They ground out and meshed all the panel joints on my house, re plastered the joints, meshed over top of the whole lot and put 3 more layers of plaster on, textured it, repainted the house including all the timber bits around the cladding. - Whole Job $13500 and 2 years later it still looks brand new. I did get a good deal on the paint as it was surplus from another job and ok my house is not huge but I'm having trouble believing a $20k quote just to paint! I also had my bathroom painted by a friend of a friend who is a painter. He wanted some money up front so he could buy the paint and I am not sure I got the cheapest deal but he did an excellent job and was finished in a few days so I'm happy with it. The OP sounds like a horror story. |
