Its even better if you can set up auto payments, that way you can more or less forget about it and theres no problems with not getting a prompt payment discount if the place has it. Only thing you have to make sure of is theres enough money in your account on the payment day. We have both power, Vodafone /Telstra & Sky on auto payments, always get prompt payment discounts, and for the last several months we have not even gotten a email invoice from sky - haven't really thought much about it as if the TV went off it would be because the bill was not paid, just found out I'm in credit for almost $200 and if in credit no invoice is sent out - guess it saves a slit second in Server usage and don't get charged for any transaction fee :) |

| 1370605 | 2014-03-18 23:06:00 | Why didn't they reduce the cost to the customer. I am expecting that some customers will request statements and that some will miss the payment on time when they rely on online statements and be hit with a penalty. This in return can provide more revenue for them ..... It's like saying for the same price we no longer provide lids and straw for your softdrink, we're helping the environment but if you want one it's this price. Seems to make Jetstar ok then ... at least they reduce the cost to the customer and they customer can then choose if they want luggage or food or entertainment or a blanket etc ... |

From all walks of life - you may have adults where they don't know how to use the internet that well they might be doing labouring jobs, cooking, a babysitter, carer, cleaners but their kids may need the internet. At the end of the day the revenue is going to go up for Telecom one way or another. If payments are electronic they may require less staff to be employed, they may be able to reduce costs also with NZ Post b/c less are paying thru them. |

I'd have to question the legality of telecoms Penalty charges for late payments The Banks in NZ & Aus are being sued for adding excessive penalty payments , penalty charges arent legal unless its JUST enough to cover their costs . |

You mean the $15 fee + the higher 24% interests charged for late payments. IME Kiwbank charge this if you are one day late. :annoyed: |

| 1370610 | 2014-03-19 00:23:00 | Meh, they'll just change to an early payment discount instead of a late payment penalty and it'll be the same anyway. I use direct debit for my phone & power so it's always on time on the last day and I don't have to worry. The power comes off my credit card so theirs no issue covering that, telecom didn't offer that option so it comes out of my account. I don't even care about the e-mailed bill let alone a paper one, the E-mail they send with it attached usually tells me the amount anyway. I'd only look at the bill if it was for an unusual amount. |

| 1370612 | 2014-03-19 03:06:00 | The winner might be just Telecom . For the same product as before there is no invoice, if you want it the same as before you pay more . You mean "for more features than before there is no increased cost" . You can now get billing history, near-real-time usage, cost estimates, plan management etc online . A piece of paper posted out once a month can't do any of that . So, for now service cost, we gain a bunch of features & control, while still getting the same bill as before (as a PDF), not to mention an email reminder when it's ready, without having to deal with posties who can't put stuff in a mailbox causing it to get soaked & unreadable, or straight up don't deliver it, etc . If you still want someone to have to print your bill, stick it inside a paper sack, drive it all around the country, and stick it in a wooden box, $1 . 50 sounds like a bargain . Telecom are far from the only place to do it this way now . When postal was the only real way they could deliver bills, they ate the cost in order to get paid . There are now far more efficient, cheaper, and flexible ways to manage it, so why stay in 1921? |
