1369970 2014-03-12 01:06:00 NZ Post callcenter says in terms of the cost it shouldn't make any difference because the size is fixed, but that the label should be printed\attached to fit the parcel in 'landscape' to make it easier for the computer\workers - but that ultimately it wouldn't be the end of the world if it wasn't.And yet a C4 window envelope is portrait in orientation. And that includes nzpost post paid plod (107)

That's a good point! I'll pull one of those off the shelf and ask them to explain that then, if they try to be difficult again.

Just watched 250000 of them Get printed. I fo know there are strict rules when it comes to printing on them plod (107)
1369973 2014-03-12 08:50:00 Well, I was told that story by the nice lady at the post office, so apparently it's true (although it makes no sense)

She is talking a load of cobblers. Mr FoxyMX installed and maintained the machines that reads addresses and sorts mail here and he says that they can read the addresses whatever the orientation on the envelope. And as far as he knows they do not have machines that reads addresses on parcels. The huge range in different shapes and sizes of parcels prohibits it being introduced but they do have bar codes which are affixed to parcels and read by scanners. These bar codes are required to be affixed to a certain corner of a parcel (upper right?) which MAY be what the nice lady at the post office was referring to. It should make no difference to the price if it is attached wrongly, however. It will just be a nuisance to the postal workers.

Simply out of the question, being nice to someone of questionable intelligence.

I knew they crush and bash our postal articles, I didn't realise they had a staining department too. ;)
