350248 2005-04-29 11:00:00 :help: ok .. please forgive me if my forum etiquette is out of line as i have never been on one until now ..
as is evident by my title line .. ive been hit by nail.exe, its subordinant program rzqeiinkcf.exe , and just tonight discovered another like nail.exe .. poller.exe ..
i am a complete novice at removing things from my computer of their tenacity .. if it wasnt for the fact i have a shocking download rate id simply reformat my drive and reinstall all my neccesary and wanted programs and the like ..
any help would be benificial as i REALLY dont want to reformat my hdd to rid myself of this only to have it return on reconnecting to the internet :@@:
cheers

HB

350249 2005-04-29 11:06:00 Hi, Welcome to PressF1 :)

You may want to have a read of our FAQ on FAQ #16 - Spyware, adware and viruses - how do I get rid of them? (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 16), for starters. It will give you some good place to start with.

What antivirus and antispyware programs do you currently have? Do you have a firewall as well?

350251 2005-04-29 11:09:00 Try this from the Symantec site

securityresponse.symantec.com

It looks like a adware.betterinternet variant.

350253 2005-04-29 11:34:00 Try that file from the Symantec site. See if it detects and removes it. Speedy Gonzales (78)

Having those software protecting your computer is not enough. You must always keep it updated. Have you try scanning your computer under safe mode to see if those parasites are removed?

Cheers :)

350256 2005-04-29 12:48:00 What OS are you running would be helpfull, WinXP and ME will probably require that the retsore feature is turned of to stop getting alerts. Murray P (44)
