350224 2005-04-29 10:06:00 Does anyone know of a motherboard that has PCIe that will work with a P4 2.53 Northbridge CPU?

350226 2005-04-30 01:24:00 do you mean northwood? Prescott (11)
350227 2005-04-30 01:44:00 I would guess he means Northwood, as Northbridge is a chipset of a motherboard. ILikeLinux (1669)
350228 2005-04-30 02:57:00 Yeah, he must mean northwood .

As far as I know Intel never made a PCI-Express for the Northwood CPU (or any 478 pin CPU) as they only designed the PCI-E bus for the LGA775 series of CPUs .

In short: No . There are no PCI-E boards that support Northwood, or any 478pin Intel CPU .

Don't think there is one that supports the Northwood but other 478 variation mobo's are out there but they are hard to find .

cheers

350230 2005-05-01 09:02:00 My mistake. I see that board uses Intel's 915PL chipset.

I didn't know that chipsets could be grafted onto boards that they weren't originally designed for. Well, anyway.

Guess I learn something.

It's not clear whether the Asus board would support a Northwood CPU though. Asus say that their board can handle 533/800MHz CPUs and the Northwood range is listed as 800MHz on Toms Hardware.

If it can support 533 FSB then yes it will support his Northwood processor. Northwoods can come with 533 or 800 FSB.
