350105 2005-04-29 00:17:00 Gidday,
We'll I've been using Jetstream for a little over nine months and to be honest, there will be some tears and teeth grinding when I disconnect next week.

I've been working from home and managed to justify $40 a month.
But I'm moving to Tauranga and will be working on a network that has quick enough access.

For home I figure lets look at cheap dialup alternatives. Any suggestions?
$28 for Xtra's unlimited seems to be an expensive option when you can get a version of jetstream for another $10.

Anyway pros and cons of alternative ISPs thanks.

Also I have a PC Notebook XP Pro with a built-in wireless and an iBook O/S X with an airport card and a couple of desktops (Win 2000 & 98) with standard network cards. I've been using a Dynalink RTA300 Router/Modem/Switch for ADSL access and networking.
What do I need to share dialup access to all these machines?
I'd particularly like to set the notebooks free to go wireless.
:yuck:

350107 2005-04-29 03:56:00 Why not stick with ADSL, a lot easier, faster and you already have the equipment. The 256k speed plans are comparable to most dial up anyway. pctek (84)

Yeah I know, I used dial up the other day for the first time in months... grrrr it is so slow. I've been looking at maybe a cheaper dailup plan as I'll probably just check personal e-mail and do the odd bit of surfing at home.

Trying to make more time for the family and all.

well the money you going to save on dial up. Does everything you asked?
Maybe you might be better off with a muti phone jack and a long extension .multi (www.dse.co.nz) cord (www.dse.co.nz)

They do look pretty reasonable pricewise and no set up fee is good.

Is anybody using Orcon or any other dailup plan without complaints?

Yeah good call.
I like the Airport express thingy. Lets you play iTunes through a stereo and share a printer to PC or Mac & network 802.11g or b... the lack of a modem doesn't make it a complete solution... but potentially a pretty cool tool anyway.
Especially if I got ADSL back up in the future.

Cheers
