349744 2005-04-28 04:41:00 I recently saw a post here about free webhosting. www.atspace.com
Unfortunately now that I need space these people are not accepting anymore clients.
Does anyone have any recommendations for inexpensive web hosts for mrstheother1 to use for her small business.
Thanks,
Rob

349747 2005-04-28 05:37:00 What ISP are you with Rob? Many of the larger companies offer a small amount of space for free with your internet account.

Unfortunately with free sites, you don't have much choice about which languages you can use, the bandwidth you get, server load and reliability...

I really recommend you get a cheap hosting plan, it will be better for the image of your business.

The only site you need to find free web hosting.

Have a look there, I would recommend a site I help manage, but it requires forum posting, if anyones interested, http://astahost.com the good thing though is the amount of talent that exists at the forums.

349751 2005-04-28 08:05:00 I can't connect to Portland FTP nowadays, the error message I get:

! Socket Error: no connection
~ Could not login to ftp.portland.co.uk

I have enabled ZoneAlarm to allow my FTP software, which is Leech FTP to connect to the server and Internet. What's the problem now?

Cheers :)

349752 2005-04-28 08:50:00 Just logged into one of my portland accounts no worries.

Disable the firewall, give it ago.
Are you using Passive mode?

How do you log into your portland account? Is FTP the only way? How do I determine whether or not I am using passive mode?

Cheers :)
