349732 2005-04-28 04:32:00 I had a canon printer scanner installed and now have uninstalled it;
when I try to install an old model flatbed Canon scanner It tells me I have no twain device driver installed ???? have been to Canon and installed the XP driver for the scanner but still no joy.Are twain device drivers for particular products or
should I be able to get a twain device driver which covers several devices.??I have twain devices that are still working.
When I had the printer, scanner installed and tried to install the "new" scanner
it said something about the previous twain dev driver had to be uninstalled.

349733 2005-04-28 04:40:00 TWAIN interface drivers are usually for one device only .

You might be hitting the "which do I install first: the driver or the equipment?" problem .

I'd make sure it's totally "removed", then install the driver, then plug in the scanner . If that doesn't work, try the other way aaround . ;)

349734 2005-04-28 04:53:00 If the scanner is USB it may still need power .

Did u plug the scanner into the power supply?

I have a canon here too, which I thought would work with only USB, but it didn't .

You have to plug it into a USB port and plug it into the power supply as well .

349735 2005-04-28 08:19:00 I use this for all my scanning needs and haven't had to down load a driver yet vuescan (http://www.hamrick.com/) and it is multiplatform plod (107)
349736 2005-04-28 08:36:00 Looks like it was a USB port or plug problem.Changed the plug to a different port and all is sweet. The previous port is also working for other hardware.
Thanks

That looks like a very interesting piece of software. Have you used with a digi cam? I like the cross platform capabilities (win & lin), any gotchas?

Canon USB scanners usually require you to install the software first, shutdown, plug in the scanner usb, boot up then power up once it is successfully detected. I see it was a port problem anyway.

349738 2005-04-28 09:38:00 Well i can only tell you from a mac point of view. Parents brought one of those all in one jobs, printer worked with no drivers needed to be installed , but the amount of crap that was on the canon disc i needed to install to get the scanner working was terrible, so dumped all that and loaded Vuescan
No haven't used it with digi cam but might have a go when i finish work.

349740 2005-04-28 23:15:00 I had the same problem recently .
Found that 'juniour' had uninstalled Service Pack 2 to make way for a game

Reinstalled Service Pack 2 & all was well .

Canon have a small program which completely uninstalls the old canon drivers . Download from Canon .
