349714 2005-04-28 06:52:00 Ah that might be what it is. If its adware.betterinternet download this

securityresponse.symantec.com

Use this removal tool. It's easier than removing the registry entries manually.

From here

securityresponse.symantec.com

There's a LOT of entries to remove manually!

Altho, the Symantec site doesn't list this file.

The latest version of trojan remover will also detect/remove this as well.

Solution Title: How to remove aurareco.exe ??
asked by satishgotti on 04/14/2005 05:03AM PDT

I have Windows XP on my laptop.

The past two days my computer has come under serious attack by abetterinternet spyware. The main syptom is that every 15-20 minutes dozens of error windows will start popping up displaying the text "ERROR 021A4225: The service cannot accept control messages at this time :$". When I Ctrl-Alt-Del and attempt to end the messages, they will pop up severeal End Program/Send Error Report messages, then crash my explorer. The taskbar and my background disappear, then reappear after several seconds. Then, its as if nothing as happened, and everything goes back to normal until the next wave.

aurareco.exe and thnall1.exe are some exe files trying to access internet. I have been blocking these using Norton Internet Security, but unable to remove them totaly from my system. This is how I know its abetterinternet causing the issues. After some of the above described attacks, abetterinternet will ask Norton INternet Security for internet access, which of course I deny it. It tries to come from C:/Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Temp/GIQ/aurareco.exe Sometimes the folder in temp will change, but the exe is always the same. No matter how many times I try to clear out the Temp folder, it always comes back.

Searched on google for some information but failed to get quality information.

Any suggestions on removing this spyware are appreciated.

Thanks,
Satish

349718 2005-06-20 07:24:00 Hi Guys,
I think i have the fix for a betterinternet, My Virus scanner kept picking it up along with poller.exe and Nail.exe, I tried deleting these along with all reg key suggested on the net in safe mode with no luck, They would just keep coming back.

Then i founhd this....
www.mypctuneup.com

I didnt want to run it at first as it tells you to turn off your firewall blah blah, but after days and days of not getting rid of abetterinternet i thought i had nothing to lose, i ran it 3 days ago and everything seems to be running sweet now with no sign or trace of this left on my PC.

It worked for me but i would suggest you do it at your own risk.

Googe :)
