| 351157 | 2005-05-07 09:43:00 | If thats Norton Internet Security (or like it), this includes AV as part of the install. AV isnt a separate install. It's all part of the same program. i have seen it as 2 seperate installs and 2 different versions. personally i would get rid of the lot ;) |

| 351158 | 2005-05-09 09:31:00 | Have a look at this page to help uninstall nortons . . symantec . com/SUPPORT/ent-security . nsf/529c2f9adcf33a1088256e22005026f1/a4d3327506ae7c5f88256b81007b7487?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam" target="_blank">service1 . symantec . com hth Hi johnboy I thought I had better be brave (knees quaking) and go through the whole manual uninstal bit . I got the uninstal instructions for Symantic 9 . x client from Windows XP . It did say to stop the following services > Intel Alert Handler > Intel Alert Originator > Intel File Transfer > Intel PDS But, of course, none of them were there because I have an AMD processor . Never mind - I looked for the next thing to stop the services for - > SAVRoam but could not find it ! Got three Symantics ! But not "SecurePort" or "Settings Manager" Users more skilled than I could have probably worked it out - but was getting way above my head . Still I had a go !! Speedy Gonzales - So, if u uninstall NIS, it will most probably remove all of those files as well . ( why don't you come home ?) I did uninstal NIS and think it was the right thing to do, thanks . I seemingly have installed AVG properly and it is giving good results (so far !) Many thanks for all your inputs Misty  |
