350984 2005-05-01 06:14:00 I used to point laughing at guys that mentioned Notepad as their primary tool for making websites, but for the last couple years it's all I've used. Not exactly Notepad, rather a simple text editor. Personally I use Notepad2 (www.flos-freeware.ch) because it's a great simple text editor with syntax highlighting. It can be used as a Notepad replacement, unlike some other text editors which are a little over the top to do so. For graphics I use Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004. I steer clear of WYSIWYG software, although I can competently use such software in an advanced fashion. sal (67)
350985 2005-05-01 06:20:00 Also on my list you can put Apache (httpd.apache.org) + PHP (www.php.net) + MySQL (dev.mysql.com). I usually have the latest stable versions of them installed (not currently) or on hand. sal (67)
350986 2005-05-01 06:21:00 Do you have any likes of PHP5.x over 4.x? CreightonBrown (5692)
350987 2005-05-01 06:23:00 Hmm it doesn't update old posts with the signature, why? CreightonBrown (5692)
350988 2005-05-01 06:26:00 It will be interesting to see what happens with the convergence of the same owners of Golive & Dreamweaver. CreightonBrown (5692)
350989 2005-05-01 06:29:00 My Favourite noticed list for web design/dev is this:
www.digitalbuilder.co.nz

I actually typed up my whole list awhile ago, from mostly shareware to freeware to payware and it seems to span about 10 pages at 20 or so lines a page.

Most of it is more toys, a proper list of things, without the toy software, maybe be a dozen or only a few.

350990 2005-05-01 06:40:00 I use Chami HTML kit which is freeware and also Jasc Paint Shop Pro. ad_267 (6193)
