350929 2005-05-01 02:38:00 Hi All,

I have recently purchased a stick of 512mb DDR PC3200 RAM for my PC. For some strange reason it seems to detect it as 256mb. I can't begin to think what the problem might be.

SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE!!!! (I said please)

350930 2005-05-01 02:45:00 Is the RAM that you bought compatible with your motherboard? If possible, could you please (I did say "please", too) post the specs of it?

Cheers :)

350932 2005-05-01 02:54:00 odds are you have got single sided ram and you need dual sided.

your mobo manual (or website) will tell you what the max ram you can install.

Have you tried sticking in another 512 module (known to be working properly)?

350935 2005-05-01 03:13:00 maybe it IS a 256mb stick that got labelled as 512mb?? Agent_24 (57)
350936 2005-05-01 04:05:00 Suggest get an independent opinion, have you got Everest Home Edition installed?, if so what does that tell you? It usually advises all details plus if there is a problem. FrankS (257)
350937 2005-05-01 07:01:00 try memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org/) and see what it says.
