350816 2005-04-30 12:29:00 Hi peeps

My Intellimouse Explorer must'ive nibbled something it shouldn't have, so I've just got my hands on one of those Logitech MX 1000 rats .

Trouble is, to install the Logitech SetPoint software to enable all the functions (it'll already get acold Emersons from the fridge and scalp it for me), I must also install Media Player 9, while there is a check box that apparently gives you choice, it's a self ticking check box .

Now, while I have installed security hot fixes, I've avoided upgrading Media Player like the plague . I have better alternatives and don't like some of the payload . What I want to know is, can Media player be rolled back once installed?

<rant> BTW, Logitech will be getting an informative on their Geneology from me . Once you get to the window to choose what you want to install, the back button to the EULA is greyed out . I see no reason to make Media player or any 3rd party software a prerequisite to getting the functionality I paid good money for (no mention of the package) . </rant>

Basically "no" for XP.

"Perhaps" for earlier Windows.

Perhaps you should have bought a mouse from MS?

Thanks for the info Goodie .

As far as the choice of rodent goes, the Logitech is replacing an MS Intellinouse Exploer which replaced an MS Intellimouse which replaced and MS 2 button job with ball, which lasted about four years . The next two optical mice lasted less than a year per, which has dented my confidence in MS hardware somewhat .
