351629 2005-05-03 03:58:00 Greetings to the Pf1 Team

In recent days when attempting to update Norton 2002 Anti virus all the definitions etc will down load but the “Symantec Redirector” has not been successful
My Computer was purchased Nov. 99 Win 98 SE This file did not appear untill April 04
I have been unchecking the “+” against the file name and using the Comp as usual and do not to seem to be having problems or unusual happenings.
So I am asking DO I REALLY NEED THIS?

The collective wisdom of the team would be appreciated

Grandad W :help::confused:

Ps:- I have never so far had to use a “Zip File”

351630 2005-05-03 04:06:00 To make a bit of a leap....2002 is a little behind the times to deal with current viruses even if fully up to date, The engines only have a limited lifespan.

I would suggest an upgrade as a good idea, 2005 if you must stick with norton, Nod32 if you’re after a superior Anti-Virus program, or AVG if you want a free alternative.

351631 2005-05-03 04:53:00 Hi granddad. Following on from Melta's suggestion - see page 37 of the May PCWORLD mag for run-down on the free AVG. And comment on some others. :cool: Scouse (83)
351632 2005-05-03 22:27:00 Hi,
I had that grief too. I think what Metla says is right. I ditched Norton's & went with AVG.
So far so good.
Pauline.
