351625 2005-05-03 03:53:00 Does anyone here use a Lexmark Z605 printer. I've been given one but they lost the power cable while moving house. They cant remember what it looked like cause it had been in storage since they upgraded there printer.
It has the 2 pin figure 8 type input on the printer like the type used in portable stereos etc. I'm wondering whether one of those cables would work?
(like this one....sal.neoburn.net )
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

351626 2005-05-03 04:07:00 The DSE W1360 would almost certainly do. That's about $10. You might find a cheaper one (or a very cheap radio/stereo: toss the rest and keep the cord ;)). Graham L (2)

I was hoping it was one of those cables and not one with some kind of transfomer/adapter on the wall socket end.
I guess by using a standard power cord like the one you mentioned they are able to keep manufacturing costs down. I think i may even have one laying around somewhere.

351628 2005-05-03 04:37:00 No, that "figure-8" is a 230V connector.

Actually, manufacturers have kept their costs down by using external power supplies (with different plugs and input voltages for different markets) and making all the equipment to work off a lower voltage. Power supply designs have improved and it's fairly standard now for a builtin PS to accept anything between 90 and 260 VAC. So now the only difference is the power cord because there are a lot of different mains plugs. ;)
