| 351619 | 2005-05-03 03:38:00 | When I click on search the system locks up. I can get Task Manager from Ctrl-Alt-Del which shows explore.exe at 100% CPU. As long as I dont use search every thing else works OK. So far I have run SFC, Ad-awareSE, Spybot S&D, MS Antispyware, & Norton System Works 2002. I Have been googling for 2 days and nothing similar found. P4 -WindowsXP2 - 2.66Ghz. System restore disabled. Ian |

| 351620 | 2005-05-03 03:55:00 | Try this click start then run in this box type sfc /scannow there is a space after sfc . This will run the windows file checker, and will ask for your xp cd if any thing is amiss. Maybe this article apllies ?/ FIX: Search Consumes All Available CPU Time on Windows XP After You Install .NET Framework support.microsoft.com Go to this page click S then scroll down to search and there are a couple of fixes there. www.kellys-korner-xp.com hth |

| 351623 | 2005-05-04 02:22:00 | You could also try this command (you may wish to make a restore point first) regsvr32 C:\windows\system32\zipfldr.dll /u when explorer is at 100%, was mentioned on this (www.devhood.com) site |

| 351624 | 2005-05-04 21:25:00 | Thanks for the replies Overdrive. I found that as well as the search problem I was having network file transfer problems, these could have been related. So I gave up looking for a fix and ran a repair reinstall from my SP1 CD followed by SP2 update. Everything working OK now |
