351326 2005-05-02 04:41:00 We have a Deskjet 970Cxi. Have downloaded all the lastest drivers. The printer can hold and black and a colored cartridge. I only have / want a black one in here at the moment but the Ink light is flashing and the printer will not print, saying there is a problem with the colour cartridge .. What should I do? ProMaz (34)
351327 2005-05-02 04:55:00 You need both colour and B/W cartridges in this printer for it to work. robbyp (2751)

You probably will ned to find an old colour one to stick in.

351330 2005-05-02 10:14:00 Friend has the same problem. No good putting in an empty colour one as the printer will complain! And if you do put in a colour one its ink will slowly disappear as the cleaning cycle does all carts!!

You would think they could have a "Black Only" switch somewhere.

This is a well known advanced feature of inkjet printers. The manufacturers don't make any money selling the printers. The money comes from selling ink.
