351386 2005-05-02 06:04:00 is there a pricespy type site for getting the best price for ink cartridges etc?
If there isn't it would be a good idea.

351387 2005-05-02 06:28:00 Shop around
The do appear in the bargain bins from time to time otherwise the refill way seems to be the cheapest route to take, especially if you are out of warrenty.

351390 2005-05-02 08:09:00 thanks guys, what do you think of using generic cartridges in a new printer? IE Pixma ip 4000r. They are a third cheaper than the brand ones. Would I void my warantee by using them? theother1 (3573)

A very old urban myth,

In fact most Printer warranties now go to lengths to explain that using generic Cartridges or refills does not automatically void your warranty.

Of course if the warranty claim can be proven to be caused by the generic cartridge or Ink used then your warranty may be voided.

If you purchase reputable generic cartridges their supplier will cover you in that case.

For more info read sites like consumables.co.nz they are one that springs to mind who offer this guarantee DSE is another.

Free in Auckland anyway. And they have excellent service! Quick to sort out any hassles, good prices and the free lollies included are a nice touch.
The only thing I don't like on their site is their brand of refill kit - theres a much better one. But the cartridges and stuff are excellent. Compatible ones plus genuine for those who want them.

351395 2005-05-02 21:51:00 I really like the idea of non-branded refills, but both experiences I had, with a Calidad generic and a refill, both leaked on me :( Greg (193)
