352129 2005-05-04 22:56:00 Hello Folks,

This is my first time, so, bear with me a little.

I turned on my Acer laptop - running Windows 98 NT - this morning only to discover that I had half a desktop screen!
My wallpaper takes up the top half of the screen while the bottom half is grey containing only my toolbar icons that would normally be lying horizontally at the bottom of a full screen.
Nor will the computer let me log on. I went to my dial up connections where I discovered that it had automatically switched to 'Never dial up...', but my half-screen won't allow me to change and 'okay' my connection choice.
And how do you drag with a touch pad?
I've tried all the normal things to return my screen to full size, i.e, right-clicked on the desktop to check display, etc, but, again, the half-screen prevents me from attempting changes.
So frustrating!
Can anyone help? :@@:

352130 2005-05-05 00:06:00 Well I would first run full anti-virus/spyware/adware scans in safe mode and see if that helps Overdrive_5000 (4950)
352131 2005-05-05 00:25:00 Thanks, Overdrive_5000, but I've done all that and am apparently clear of viruses and spyware. Vardu101 (8040)
352132 2005-05-05 00:27:00 Oh ok have you tried restarting in safe mode, does it load up normal ? Overdrive_5000 (4950)
352133 2005-05-05 00:35:00 I'm just running Adware again. If no luck, I'll trying loading up in safe mode and report what happens.
Thanks again Overdrive_5000.

352134 2005-05-05 01:38:00 You are a genius, Overdrive_5000!

Restarting in Safemode allowed me to reconfigure both my desktop and internet connection. Everything is up and running normally again.

I learned a lot thanks to you

Abundant appreciation.
