| 352003 | 2005-05-04 06:04:00 | Anyone know what this is: Fresh install of XP Home, SP2. No spyware or anything found (well frsh install). Click on either recycle bin, MyComputer or launch control panel and nothing happens. At all. No error messages. Just doesn't open. Works OK in Safe mode. You can use Windows Explorer etc and run everything. |

Do you get a right-click context menu for those Icons? Nothing reported under Event Viewer? You might want to carefully look at shell extensions for those components and see if this helps. I see there is an app that you can use to disable individual shell extensions - ShellExView v1.11 - Shell Extensions Manager (www.nirsoft.net). |

It was fine after I finished with it, and it seems suspicious to me that it is fine in safe mode. Left him to do a Repair and if that doesn't work, guess he'll be getting a 2nd reinstall. | pctek (84) | ||
