| 352240 | 2005-05-05 08:03:00 | I'm with Metla for sure If you walk in there with a bag load of tricks & tools you won't have used or tested properly(and you won't have) and try and change the systems already in place with what you consider to be superior, your trial won't extend into Tuesday. Leave your bag of tricks at home, turn up to work, listen, learn, do it. After a few weeks you may see ways of improving the systems and that would be the time to suggest improvements, once you know the lay of the land so to speak. |

| 352241 | 2005-05-05 08:36:00 | To add to Chill's and the Highlanders suggestion of a boot CD, I've had success with EBCD where other boot CD's would not boot. Does much the same thing otherwise. I also agree with the others, keep your boot CD and basic tools (screw drivers, needle nose pliars, duster, anti-static) in your kit bag. Look and listen, keep your trap shut except to ask pertinant questions relating to what your supervisor wants you to do, not what you want to do or perceive to be a better way. Head down and arse up is what they will want, do that and do it efficiently on their terms and you may get the chance to stay. All the imagineable improvements in the world, to there processes will be moot if your not there impliment them. If they want a volunteer to fix something, consider it only if you really now you can fix it then discard the thought. Remember Creighton, do this :xmouth: to your mouth ok  |
