2005-05-07 10:05:00 I have a toshiba satellite laptop, windows xp pro with a toshiba DVD-Rom SD-R2212. I've played dvd-r discs in it before but the latest one ive tried to play that my friend made hasent played. I can only take his word for it that it played allright for him and assume its something wrong here.
The laptop makes a bit of noise trying to read it then gives up. It shows up as a disc but with nothing on it. I've done a bit of a search and found this problem occuring for other people and I've also read that a firmware update might fix it but I cant find anything and I'm not really sure. Any ideas?

2005-05-07 10:19:00 Unfortunately DVD drives can be fickle and just because a certain brand of disc plays in your friend's PC does not mean it will play in yours. Check out this site (http://www.videohelp.com), search for your drive and see if it has a problem with the brand of disc you are trying to play. Sb0h (3744)
2005-05-07 11:05:00 I'm still having trouble finding any info. theres definitly data on the disc does anyone know of any software to retreive that, duno if thats possible Hersh (7042)
2005-05-07 13:02:00 Try cleaning the lens of your drive. Can you still play other discs? If so I would think the problem is with the particular disc you are using not the drive. Sb0h (3744)
