352786 2005-05-06 12:28:00 I have a few (and will be frequently getting more) multipage TIFF images that I need to split quickly and easily into many singlepage TIFF images. Does anybody know of any free or common programs that'll do this for me? Automated would be good (ie I load the TIFF, press a button, and I end up with 80-odd TIFFs in a folder). I don't care about things like image name etc., just something that'll split the TIFFs into single images.

Thanks,
Midavalo.

352788 2005-05-09 09:22:00 So does this mean that you have one TIFF and you want to make many copies of it?

What is a multipage TIFF image as opposed to a singlepage. Do you mean one page with many TIFFs on it which all need to be on their own separate page.

Why do you want to do this? Where do they come from? Why do you need to do this in the first place? Don't really care, just trying to understand what it is that you are asking.

352789 2005-05-09 09:26:00 The reason I am inquisitive is because I am in the process of becoming a Computer Graphics "expert" like a million other people in New Zealand and I have never heard of anything like you are talking about. From what discipline is the TIFF originating? zqwerty (97)
352790 2005-05-09 09:41:00 I suspect this may be a contact/proof sheet of thumbs in tiff format. If the original images are not there, you could only break out the thumbs which would be low resolution.

It may be necessary to at least know, if not have, the original programme that made the image(s), some use proprietary formats even though they are tiffs. What image editing programmes do you have?

352791 2005-05-09 12:28:00 Are these those hubble tiffs? The huge ones? I think what Midavalo wants to do is batch cut one huge image into smaller pieces. I dont know of a certain program that can do this but will keep an eye out. sal (67)

352793 2005-05-09 14:05:00 Sounds like he's talking about slicing images. Photoshop does it, but I doubt it will do it automatically for a batch. Greg (193)
352794 2005-05-09 14:07:00 You can record actions in Photoshop, and then save them as a task, so if all the pics that made up the sheet were the same size it can be done easily enough. Metla (12)
352795 2005-05-10 05:12:00 Midavalo,

I did a quick search on the net and came up with a couple of apps that should meet your requirements:

www.cgi-interactive-uk.com (requires VB compiler)
confocal.med.unc.edu (command line only)
www.coolutils.com
