| 352748 | 2005-05-06 07:17:00 | Just put Ubuntu on my laptop today (the Hoary Hedgehog build). The USB on the laptop worked fine in Win2000 before I put Ubuntu on, and at first I could see my USB key, but could not copy files off it. Now I can't even get USB devices to pick up under Ubuntu and when I leave a USB device plugged in when I start up Ubuntu it locks on starting up 'hotplug'. Have a Digital HiNote VP745 (yes, it's old :p but it works) and it has an Intel 440BX chipset/USB controller. As a sidenote, even Knoppix couldn't pick up my keys or other USB devices. Anyone know the answer to this one? Me and Linux do not mix! (I think it's best for me to retreat to Windows permanently if I can't fix this one...) |

| 352749 | 2005-05-06 09:07:00 | Show us your dmesg output and your fstab. Do this: dmesg > usbprob.txt. Then do this: cat /etc/fstab >> usbprob.txt. Then post usbprob.txt here for us to look at. Also post the last message before it locks with the key hooked up. | vinref (6194) | ||
