| 352454 | 2005-05-05 13:46:00 | hi... just installed the beta verison of win64 Pro, and there seems to be 2 Program Files folders. 1 is called Program Files (x86) and the other is Program Files, what is the difference and prupose of the 2? thanks :D |

(Program files) As stated here www.microsoft.com 32-bit applications running in the WOW64 subsystem provide a highly-compatible, high-performance environment for the thousands of existing 32-bit applications. 32-bit applications are installed into the Program Files (x86) directory structure, and have separate hives in the registry to prevent problems. |
