| 352526 | 2005-05-06 11:20:00 | Pete, have a look at Scribus (http://www.scribus.org.uk/). Open Office Writer will perform much the same as Word as long as your needs aren't too complex, but I'm a great believer in having the right tools rather than a singing, dancing, talking, card trick dog that can't bark or fetch sticks. One thing you'll need for Scibus is Linux or a Mac with OS X and X11. You can run it from a bootable CD like mepis and save the files to a partition so they don't disappear when the ram drive is unloaded. There is work going on to port it to Windows but no timeframe for when this will be done. Just what I was looking for :) Now all I have to do is convince my wife that Linux isnt that hard to use :) Just compiled it on FC3 and its sweet. |
