353485 2005-05-09 05:32:00 I just bought my new computer a couple of months ago and ever since I got it it says

Booting From CD
BOOT DISK FAILURE PLEASE INSERT BOOT DISK AND PUSH ENTER

Some times if I restart it a couple of times it will boot or some times it boots with out this problem. Also some times my computer restarts half way on the Windows XP loading screen? But that only happens 1 every 10 boots :(

Thanks
Mantice

353486 2005-05-09 05:37:00 Change the BIOS boot setting so that HDD is the first bott device not CD.
See how that goes. If it still plays up take it back under warranty. Especially seeing as its doing that restart too.

353488 2005-05-09 05:49:00 This is a 2 month old computer?

Its not your problem to resolve, take it back and demand some customer care.

353491 2005-05-09 06:20:00 The boot sequence was fine ...
I found this option that said somthing along the lines like

Serial ATA = Raid

So i changed it to basic

Now Im going to update BIOS + Raid Config

353492 2005-05-09 09:32:00 If you're not running a RAID configuration I doubt it would boot at all . Have you changed anything in the BIOS previously? Has changing the BIOS setting fixed it? More info .

Don't go flashing the BIOS in the hopes it will fix the problem . Unless you specifically know there is an issue with this BIOS revision, it's too risky for a punt .

You should be getting some sort of error message to go along with your symptoms . Go to Control Panel > System/Properties > Advanced tab > Settings button > Start up & recovery, uncheck "Automatically restart" then click OK on the way out . If you haven't been getting an error while in Windows or when its starting you should get one now, note down the details exactly .

There's no reason for a modern machine to halt if the CD/DVD is set to boot before an HDD, unless you have a low level software/filesystem fault or a hardware fault like a bad disk or contoller .

Get whatever error messages you can, you need to be able to diagnose the problem, if it turns out to be relatively simple, good . If not or no diagnisis, ship it back to the store, you run the risk of voiding your warrenty by fiddling .
