353903 2005-05-10 05:48:00 I have installed a new Video card (winfast A360 Vivo) and the software (PVR) that enables the Direct burn from VCR to DVD but that function does not work correctly. I want to reinstall the PVR software. The Add/Remove in control panel will not delete it at all. and when I try to install the latest version on top of it ,it tells me I allready have the latest. I just want to start from a clean slate.... any advice please. Cheers Phil. Marshman (7857)
353904 2005-05-10 06:04:00 I take it u have A DVD burner installed??

Does that program put an icon in the taskbar?/ if so, did u quit it, before u uninstalled the PVR program??

If the program entry isnt in Add/remove programs, delete the program's folder.

Then see if u can reinstall it.

353905 2005-05-10 08:56:00 Yes I do have a dvd burner. Everything with the original instillation went well, all but the Direct burn function of the PVR software. I can record the VHS to the hard drive and then onto DVD but the reason I purchased this card with the VIVO function was to have the Direct VHS to DVD burning ability. I have deleted the PVR folder in windows explorer (after the add/remove did not work). Now all the shortcuts and reference to the software is not visable but when try to reinstall the software it tells me "that there is no need to upgrade this program you have the latest release" and stops the instillation process. When I do a search for PVR all it finds is the Zipped file I downloaded of the latest version of the PVR software ( the one I want to install to see if this fixes the direct burn problem). Now I have nothing to use at all, it will not allow me to reinstall........what next??. Marshman (7857)
353906 2005-05-10 09:15:00 I see what you mean.

I have the Winfast PVR program here with a Leadtek tuner. I'll tell u as soon as I find out how to fix it! It says directburn (can't use) in its config.

353907 2005-05-10 21:12:00 I see what u meant by can't remove the program entry in Add/remove .

I uninstalled it twice, and the entry was still there!

I did send an email to Leadtek, all they said, was install the latest version for the PVR program (which was already installed), or get the latest version of the firmware (which is already installed on the burner) .

Then, I managed to get the Directburn option not to say can't use!

I used this http://www . ccleaner . com (Its tools option, has an uninstall programs option) .

Deleted the Winfast PVR entry thru this . Went to the Winfast folder, deleted it, (The programs were still in the folder, even tho I uninstalled it) . And deleted the Winfast Menu .

Then I went back to Ccleaner again . And selected the issues tab, clicked on scan for issues . It brought up the entries relating to Winfast in the registry (and its folders) . Then I clicked on Fix selected entries NO to backing up the registry . Then fix entries option again .

Then reinstalled the PVR program, said YES to the codecs and the other thing it wanted to install . And voila, the Directburn options for VCD/SVCD and DVD didnt have (can't use) beside them!

353908 2005-05-11 18:36:00 Speedy,I Love You.Thank you for your time and advice, problem solved. The link to "CCCleaner" was very helpful, what a great tool to have on a PC. Thanks one more time... Marshman. Marshman (7857)
353909 2005-05-11 21:25:00 Good to hear you got it going there Marshman

Yup I knew there was another way of fixing it . I told Leadtek in my email, it wouldn't uninstall it in Add/remove as well . So, they MAY or MAY not fix that slight prob . In the next update . (If there's another update) .

I think CCleaner is better than most of these other programs that remove entries in the registry . MOST programs, I've seen or used once u remove invalid entries in the registry, the system dies completely!!

Coz they remove links/commands to files, Windows or some other program needs, in order to run properly .
