want to put up a word chart thing 3 different ones.....need to be able to have boxed colums, each box needs written words, and along the top it has a range of single words.

down the side catergories, and the middle boxes have the info written in them.

what is this called and how do i add it to the word page?

ends up being a rectangle shape, with 4 rows / boxes down and 5 or 6 along the top.......

need to be expanaable to fit on words, also. and the lines need to print?

clear as mud?

i looked in word and am not sure of the prog well enuf to just pop something on......

354724 2005-05-13 08:30:00 Hi Beetle. If your using MS Word, click on Table - Insert - Table and away you go.
The cells created are totally flexible. You can join some together as heading, you can split them into smaller cells.
You can format the contents just like as for any word document.... ;)

354726 2005-05-13 09:03:00 First choice save it and send it as a .doc. Despite the complaints about MS products, Word is the most available on commercial and domestic systems. If they complain, simply open it, do a save as and save it as .rtf to send again. Keep both. Scouse (83)
354727 2005-05-17 10:00:00 OK............

got to the stage where i have written up a additional lot of writing to it,
and on screen as well as print it is on landscape mode ...... which i dont want if possible

How can i alter it to save in normal mode and still mange to not cut off my tables?

as in landscape mode my tables get cut into multiple pages...

354728 2005-05-17 11:00:00 Hi beetle. Do I understand you to say
1. That your document is printing in Landscape and you want it in Portrait as normal?
2. That the table is wider than the page? Landscape or Portrait?
3. Or is it that the table is longer than a page?

If 2. by how much? Have the cells in your table got any slack - blank areas - after the text, so that we could tighten up the cells by reducing them in width etc.

Sorry for the questions, but I'm trying to visualise your document as you have it printed.

:@@:

Ok at the moment my table (which is not completely typed up yet) is landscape width . . . . . . page width and fits to - auto fit to window???

i did a test run, to make sure it was what I wanted . . . . . :p
i probably have room for words to be scrunched as such . . .
is this a possibility or too much work?
should i just save the tables and print as is and print words / essay stuff as portrait???

Thanxs heaps . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Oh and yes it fits fine on the page, probably not as big as could be, but may be able to fiddle round with coloumbs . . . . . .
sigh . . .

354730 2005-05-17 11:34:00 Hi Beetle. You can try three things here...
1. Click on your Table.
Click on the word "Table" (on the Menu Toolbar).
Click on AutoFit.
Click on "AutoFit to Contents". Will take out any slack.
2. Click on the word "File" (on the Menu Toolbar).
Click Page Setup.
On the Margins tab - which should be the default at the front.
Click on the little picture of Portrait and OK.
3. If the table is too wide for Portrait page, you could perhaps use smaller text just in the table. This is not uncommon. Hightlight the whole table - left click at top right - hold down the key and drag down to bottom right so that all is selected - change the Font size down a couple of notches. People can read 8 quite readily in a table.
If no good, let me know and we'll think of something else, like making your main document in Portrait and the tables as a Landscape appendix..... ;)

354731 2005-05-17 11:46:00 That 2nd one changing to portrait makes it look good . . . . . i also took the font size down a bit . . . lol from 12 to 8 at this stage . . . see what it looks like at print

not yet printed out but more like i want,

some of the tables (boxes) are not same size anyway due to amount of words in them, but this is much better . . . .
when i add the rest and print ill let you know how i get on, and if need help just hit that panic button again huh . . . . . :p

thanxs heaps . . . . . .

:D
