354608 2005-05-12 23:30:00 Hey,

I remember doing it a while ago, but I can't remember how. I want to make an alias for a long command that I run on my server.

The command I have to type is something like

btdownloadheadless.py --minport 7010 --minport 7020 --maxupload 8192 name.of.torrent

What i'd like to do is just be able to type seed name.of.torrent or something similar, and don't want to have to specify this everytime i reboot the machine (which is hardly ever mind you8)

Cheers,

Ash

You will want to creat an "Alias" for the command. Have a wee read at the Scarborough LUG (www.scarborough.lug.org.uk) where they are discussing what you want.

354610 2005-05-13 02:08:00 You can simply type

alias longname shortname.

This will only persist until you reboot. If you want it permanently, edit ~/.bash and add a line (may be similar to the former command), following the format you see there.
