354487 2005-05-12 08:53:00 With only 128 MB of RAM and XP, you would be better off either upgrading the RAM or going into XP and shutting off all the eye candy and special effects to minimise the drain on the system eg switching to Classic View from the default Luna theme. Jen (38)
354488 2005-05-12 09:18:00 Upgrade the ram - its dropped in price again today. pctek (84)

354492 2005-05-12 11:26:00 i hav xp on 500mhz with 256+128 ram..i still run short of ram..and i also run zone alarm..
some thing worth trying..FreeRamXP Pro

it frees up ram..that might help since you got 128mb..
it doesn't free up ram like how these kind of programs worked back in the days of win98
this one seem to work nicely with how xp handles memory

i use it myself
seem to work just fine..until my comp was on for 2 weeks straight without restart..
then this program became useless...

354493 2005-05-12 11:31:00 XP uses more then 128mb just on idle, you can tweak it all you like, You still won't have enough ram, and windows is just getting bigger and more top heavy every month.

Getting a firewall with a smaller footprint won't help either, Doesn't matter if it wants 2mb or 20mb of ram if there is no ram at all for its use.

Likewise using ram cleaners, they have to be running which uses ram and cpu cycles, and if you flush your ram it will imediatly fill back up with the tasks at hand, causing a slowdown in performance and gaining nothing.
