354377 2005-05-12 07:10:00 Hi

I Have Roxio CD burning on my computer and when I burn jpeg photos to a CD they will not play on my non-computer DVD player. I understand that if you burn with the program that is part of XP this is not a problem. How do I over-ride Roxio to burn with the XP program? I have gotten a lot of beer coasters out of this so far! Windows XP help is as useless as usual.

Thanks
Mike

354378 2005-05-12 07:50:00 How are you burning the jpegs to the cd with Roxio??

If you're using Directcd, and just copying them to the cd, they wont work, if you formatted the cd beforehand.

It'll be better getting nero (or nerovision) and making a slideshow on cd or dvd. However, you may need the plugin for it, (which isnt free).

XP's built in burning is as useless as u know what. Its limited in what it can do. What version of Roxio have u got 5 or 6??

354379 2005-05-12 21:31:00 Version is Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Basic Edition. I have tried drag and drop as well as every other way including the option to make it readable on any computer or device. Still does not work.

I know the XP burner will work as they did a trial in the DIck Smith shop where I bought the DVD player. The question is how to get the XP burner software back into action and over-ride Roxio.

Thanks for your reply.

354380 2005-05-12 21:47:00 What exactly do u mean by this??

The question is how to get the XP burner software back into action and over-ride Roxio .

If you're using Directcd, this does the same thing as XP's default burning program . Well, they're both by Roxio anyway . XP's built in burning, is just limited, in what it can do .

I don't use cd creator basic version, so have no idea what programs it installs

(I used to use the Platinum version, but it kept on screwing up cd's in XP SP2, so I biffed it, and went to Nero) .

If cd creator has a videocd option in it, (in one of its programs) use that, if it lets u add jpeg files . Don't drop and drag jpegs to the cd, the only thing it'll work on is a computer, NOT an external cd or dvd player .

Also, the CD/DVD player you're trying to get these jpegs to show on, can it read jpegs?? or does it say it can read/play jpegs, (not all CD/DVD players can) .

If it doesn't well jpegs wont work on it, no matter how hard u try .

354381 2005-05-12 22:47:00 Right click the DVD drive in My Computer and select properties. Click the recording tab, you will see what to do next.

ps. there is nothing wrong with the built in burning of XP, it just lacks features.
