| 354449 | 2005-05-12 10:02:00 | i tried a system restore but it wont even run, can't really get into the start menu either!Have you tried to get into Safe Mode? When the machine starts to boot, keep tapping the F8 key until you get a menu where you can select Safe Mode. What do you mean System Restore will not run? What also happens if you use the keys CTRL-ALT-DEL and open up the Task Manager? If you can get this open, go to the Applications tab and select "New Task" and see if you can select System Restore. If not, then see if you can browse to the location where the exe is located which is "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe". This may be overly optomistic though from your description of the problem ... |

| 354450 | 2005-05-12 10:14:00 | thanks jen, just got into safe mode but when browse to system 32 /restore/rstrui.exe it will not run....likewise in the taskmanager there were a few background things but not many, putting system restore in didn't work either...shall i try this dirty install idea? whatever it is | kaliyuga (6711) | ||
