354449 2005-05-12 10:02:00 i tried a system restore but it wont even run, can't really get into the start menu either!Have you tried to get into Safe Mode? When the machine starts to boot, keep tapping the F8 key until you get a menu where you can select Safe Mode. What do you mean System Restore will not run?

What also happens if you use the keys CTRL-ALT-DEL and open up the Task Manager? If you can get this open, go to the Applications tab and select "New Task" and see if you can select System Restore. If not, then see if you can browse to the location where the exe is located which is "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe". This may be overly optomistic though from your description of the problem ...

Could you further explain what do you mean by you can't run system restore? As in you couldn't find it under the System tools? If that's the problem, press Ctrl + Alt + Del, click File and click Run... Type in the following pathway:

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Hope this helps.

Cheers :)
